curator's notes: This image
is interesting because it represents that period in which Dorothy
Lange was a studio photographer to the upper income Jewish families
of the East Side. It's interesting when viewed side by side with
Migrant Mother. The striking difference between her early work
of family portraits and the compelling portraits of the depression.
It represents simultaneously two dramatic differences in both
style and politics.
