<image:caption>Claudia Hart 5 1/4” x 10” x 6 1/4” Copper plated sculpture Mortifications are a series of figurines derived from the heavy ABS plastic output from a Rapid Prototype machine. Individual 3D computer models are produced via a process normal to industrial manufacturing. In the Mortifications, a realistic model of a nude is digitally "mutilated" and subjected to irregular and apparently organic deformations. By creating forms that evoke decay out of non-biodegradable ABS plastic, using a process intended to produce prototypes for mass production, the Mortifications propose a digital Baroque. Related to the intentions of the historical Baroque, the emotionally expressive, personal style of this imagery is intended to breathe irregularity and life into a conformist techno/consumer culture. <image:caption>Fernando Orellana 84” x 8” x 8” Robotic Sculpture Using robotics as the primary medium, "Unending Closure" is a response to this accelerated social trend. Being inherently driven by a sense of curiosity and exploration, the robots that exist in these two wooden columns live in a constant state of suspiscion and fear, attempting to "see" what is outside, yet drawing back at the earliest guise of danger. Each robot is equipped with an IR sensor, which it uses to "explore" its world from the small opening near the top of each column. The sensor is mounted on a mechanism that allows for the robot to search both vertical and horizontal space. While they do this, they each make unique searching sounds from a built-in sound generator and speaker. Once they find a viewer, they will focus on them, waiting to see whgat the viewer does. If the viewer gets too close, they will try to get away by shaking ground at varying levels of intensity and making distinct warning sounds. If the viewer stays within a certain distance, the robots will try to communicate with them, using sounds and shaking . . .</image:caption>

The newspaper has two articles about GFP Bunny. On the left we see a translation of the original Le Monde article (Galus, Christiane. "Les animaux fluorescents fascinent chercheurs, artistes et militaires", Le Monde, October 5, 2000, pp. 1, 29.). On the right we see an article written by a Brazilian journalist (Buratto, Luciano G. Like all images in the "Free Alba!" series, the photograph is taken from the perspective of the person reading the newspaper, as if the viewer occupied that point of view. Everything in the image points to the newspaper, and not to the GFP Bunny story. The objective is to draw attention to the newspaper and the process through which it recreates the GFP Bunny story. In the Folha de São Paulo case, we see that the title and the content of the original Le Monde text was altered. Also, and most importantly, the photograph was unintentionally altered by the newspaper as well. Because accidentally there was too much magenta in the process of mechanical reproduction of the photograph, Alba's image appears with red blotches all over her body, which does not correspond to reality. Even unintentionally the process of formatting "reality" to fit the production process (not to mention the ideology) of news organizations creates its own "reality". The photographs in this series dramatize the fact that the reception of GFP Bunny was complex, taking place across cultures and in diverse locations.</image:caption>

The clock is instantly recognized as a symbol of the nuclear arms race. Its relevance is of even more importance today, with rogue nations now admitting to possessing nuclear weapons, and recent increased terrorist activity. We can only hope this work is not a symbol of what is to come, as we try to make light of the dark humor in the title—"Have a Nice Day". <image:caption>The Other Window: Distortion I, 2006 Ellen Sandor, (art)n and James Zanzi Special thanks to Lisa Stone 30”x30” Virtual Photograph/PHSCologram: Duratrans, Kodalth, Plexiglas This project began with a shared love for the pioneering photography of André Kertész, who was profoundly attuned to everyday life, which he penetrated beyond, in varied bodies of his life’s work. With Kertész's funhouse mirror in Chicago at the Stephen Daiter Gallery, Ellen and Richard Sandor spent an afternoon with James Zanzi, making group portraits together, interacting with Kertész's distorted, reflective, historic object. They created a series of photos through the transfer of HD video to chromogenic prints, rendered for the PHSCologram process. This unique (art)n collaboration represents three generations of SAIC graduates; the distortion reflects a mirroring montage of their shared artistic endeavors.</image:caption>

The Morro Dois Irmãos (Twin Brothers Hill) can be seen on the background. In the photograph we see a reclining woman comfortably reading the Brazilian newspaper Folha de São Paulo (October 7, 2000 ). "Eduardo Kac afirma que acordo sobre animal foi rompido", Folha de São Paulo, October 7, 2000, p. A18.) Like all images in the "Free Alba!" series, the photograph is taken from the perspective of the person reading the newspaper, as if the viewer occupied that point of view . . . <image:caption>Martyl Ellen Sandor & (art)n: Keith Miller, Pete Latrofa and Janine Fron 30”x40” Virtual Photograph/PHSCologram: Duratrans, Kodalith, Plexiglas A painterly mountainscape inspired by Martyl's "Tent Rocks" looms in the background, ominously juxtaposed with Martyl's "Doomsday Clock", initially designed in 1947 as a magazine cover for the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. <image:caption>Happy Women’s Month! Please enjoy this special montage - A tribute to Lucille Ball, featuring selfies by Lee Godie and Cindy Sherman in homage to the co-creator of 'I Love Lucy'. Lucille Désirée Ball (1911-1989) was a trailblazer for being an American actress, comedian, producer and studio executive; she was recognized by 'Time' magazine in 2020 for being one of the most influential women of the 20th Century. She was nominated for an Emmy 13 times, winning 5 awards, and was the recipient of the Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award, with two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame among other accolades. Cindy Sherman is a ground-breaking artist whose innovative performance photography from the 1970s’ to the present was a precursor to selfies, in which her many disguises explore cultural identity and stereotypes with a comic edge. Lee Godie is a prolific American self-taught artist, working in Chicago from the 1960s-90s. She adopted a street-artist life whose make-up and costumes, reflected her artistry. She is considered the most collected artist in Chicago. "Remember to recognize the small successes that you will have. Don't let the brightness of that big goal blind you to what happens on the way toward the goal. Meet one wave at a time and enjoy what progress you make.” –Lucille Ball “I am trying to make other people recognize something of themselves rather than me.” —Cindy Sherman “I’m much better than Cezanne.” - Lee Godie Credits: 'Lee and Cameo on a chair . . . ,; early - mid 1970s, Lee Godie, photo booth portrait From the Richard and Ellen Sandor Family Collection; featured in 'New Media Futures: The Rise of Women in the Digital Arts' 'Untitled (Lucy)', 1975/2001, Cindy Sherman, Modern gelatin silver print From the Richard and Ellen Sandor Family Collection 'Lucille Ball', 1943, Laszlo Willinger, Vintage gelatin silver print From the Richard and Ellen Sandor Family Collection Explore: https://www.herstory-artn.com</image:caption>
